Is the winter getting on your nerves and you are thinking about your skateboard and sidewalks free of snow? On Fri. Mar. 4, 2011, “Ideal Humans,” a video featuring seven of the Chicago area’s top skateboarders, will be shown for the first time at 5:30 p.m. at the Vic Theatre, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago.
The video was produced by 19 year-old Blake Matthews, a student at Columbia College-Chicago, who lives in Naperville. Blake is studying cinematography, but began working on “Ideal Humans” two years ago. Blake’s friends and fellow skaters helped him film and edit the film. Matthews is hard at work on another film already.
The skaters are from area schools. Matthews met them during the eight years he has been skating in the area.
The video showcases the talents of a group of local skateboarders by showing their abilities and nuances. Featured in the video are Colin Commito, a professional skateboarder from California. Commito’s Chicago connection is that he is a student at The John Marshall Law School.
Other skaters featured include local talents Nick Matthews, Timmy Johnson, Kevin Delgross, Mike Piwowar, Steve Purdue and Andy Sisomboune.
This video showing is open to all ages. Doors open at 3 p.m. Toy Machine Skateboards, Dekline Shoes, Compadre Clothing and Autobahn Wheels are sponsoring the event which includes free gifts from these sponsors. For additional information, contact Commito at colindoitnow@earthlink.net.
