In preparation for the Scrabble Shown later in the Month, Cinema Minima is laying it down with Word Wars (2004, 80 min), a documentary about the tiles and tribulations on the Scrabble tournment circuit. Word Wars follows four players in the nine months leading up to the 2002 National Scrabble Championship. As the camera narrows it’s focus on these four different players, as they navigate two letter words and triple word bingos, we find the the true meaning of a scabble champion. So shuffle yourself to Coles (2338 N. Milwaukee) on Sunday, May 1st to experience Word Wars at 8p.m.
On the first Sunday of each month, Cinema Minima, a monthly film series, invites you to explore a menagerie of themes and experiences through film. Aspiring to present an atmosphere to enjoy good films with good friends (and good drinks), Cinema Minima wants to be your favorite way to end a lazy Sunday! For information visit www.cinema-minima.com or “like” us on FB. Admission is always free at Cole’s.
