DuSable Museum of African American History – Give the People What They Need: Good Greens Festival 2008: Eat to Live
With all the city's farmers markets and various other grocery outlets around, it's hard to imagine that many Chicagoans live in “food deserts,” or areas where fresh fruits and veggies are scarce. Congressman Bobby L. Rush recently helped pass a farm bill to change that but in the meantime, his office has organized this fair to draw attention locally to issues of food access, health and green economy jobs. A farmers' market, healthy food samplings, chef demos, health screenings and panel discussions are all on the bill.
