Walk Score is a site that attempts to rate and compare cities in terms of how pedestrian and public transit friendly they are. They rate walkability, public transit and bike-friendliness.
Currently, according to their ratings, Chicago is the 6th most walkable large city in the U.S. with 2,695,598 residents.
They rate over 10,000 neighborhoods in almost 3,000 cities across the United States, Canada and Australia so you can find a walkable home or apartment.
America Walks features additional information about the economic benefits to an area that is walkable and features good public transportation.
In case you are still up for a bike ride, Divvy is going to keep some bikes around all winter. If you divvy in the cold weather, be sure to take a photo and tag it #divvyon, and you could have your photo featured on the Divvy site.
