Chicago Cause, a philanthropic initiative between three local businesses, is underway and now taking entries. The collaborative effort is donating $32,000 in services to one local nonprofit organization, and all Chicago based non-profits are encouraged to enter into the running.

The winner of the Chicago Cause will receive a professional video and new website designed by Orbit Media Studios, social media and email marketing training from Lightspan Digital and a four-month public relations campaign managed by Flannigan Communications. The winner will be determined based on projected potential impact on the community and the non-profit’s ability to maintain the marketing strategies that will be put in place.

Chicago Cause formed last year when these three businesses that share a passion for our city wanted to help those who make it a better place for everyone to live. Non-profits mostly receive donations for the core of their services and rarely receive funding for technology, video production and marketing.

Last year’s Chicago Cause proved that there is a definite need for web and marketing support in the non-profit sector, with 70 fantastic and unique Chicago organizations applying. The Center for Disability and Elder Law was ultimately selected as the 2010 winner of Chicago Cause and benefited greatly from the award, helping to raise awareness of their organization due to the effectiveness of their marketing and newfound digital presence.

If you are involved with a Chicago based nonprofit that could benefit from Chicago Cause, please apply today and get your organization in the running, the deadline to submit is August 5. Good luck!
