Check out the lovely photo of one of the famous Chicago bascule bridges by Joshua Mellin. This Saturday drivers and pedestrians may notice the bridges with a bit of irritation. It is the first of the “bridge runs” that allow sailboats to go from Lake Michigan downriver. Most boat owners over-winter their boats in Marinas along the Chicago River.
Here is the official story, and a link to the days and times this week when the bridges will be lifted for the boats.
