Heralded as “a queer performance spectacle of sacred and mighty proportions” that celebrates the “fierce spirit of the queer community,” you can expect an electric mash-up of drag, burlesque, poetry, song, performance art, and dance at this year’s Gender Fusions.
The event, created by the LGBTQ Office of Culture & Community in partnership with GLBTQIA student organization Common Ground, is in its seventh year, and it’s happening Saturday, April 16th. Tickets are $5, and though tickets can be purchased at the door, they tend to sell out fast. So get your tickets now if you’re interested.
K. Bradford, the coordinator of the LGBTQ office said this year’s headliners “are all amazing and will shine their queer superpowers on us through their different art forms; Daniel Alexander Jones (playwright, performer, director, professor from NYC), Kate Rigg of Slanty Eyed Mama (Po-Mo comedian, actor, singer, rapper), and Leslie & the Ly’s (Midwestern pop/hip-hop band of outrageousness). Supporting the headliners are a few favorites such as (the return of) Matthew Hollis, (a quick dip with) Lenelle Moise, Double DJ, and more.”
GF7 Schedule:
6 p.m. | Wonder (Us): A rousing performance keynote by Daniel Alexander Jones, award-winning performer and director extraordinaire hailing from NYC.
