Don’t Leave Money on the Table, Negotiate Like a Pro

Chicago Talks, June 20, 2014

It’s on Tuesday, June 24 at Columbia College Chicago’s Journalism Department. 6 p.m. networking and the program goes from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Have you ever left money on the table? Had a negotiation go badly? Not asked for more than that first offer?  Learn what negotiation is, what’s in a hiring manager’s head, the do’s and don’ts, and other helpful tips. Our excellent panel will share their expertise. Then attendees will work in small groups to role play good negotiating, with our experts watching and offering advice.

Scenarios will include how to negotiate:

•    That first job offer

•    A promotion to editor

•    Freelance gigs

•    A move into a career outside journalism

Space is limited.

There is an admission charge for AWJ members and non-members.. Columbia College students and faculty get free admission.
