Creative Nonfiction Week, an annual event hosted by Columbia College’s departments of Journalism, English and Fiction — and this year, its new Creative Writing department — begins today at 4 p.m. with readings by student and faculty contributors in the Latina Voices website. The keynote address at 7 p.m. is by Kwame Dawes, Emmy award-winning journalist, poet and writing or fiction and nonfiction.
The four days of programming include a wide variety of creative nonfiction forms and innovators:
Tuesday, October 22 at 4 p.m.: Graphic Storytelling and Nonfiction Comics, featuring Anne Elizabeth Moore, Darryl Holliday and Erik Rodriguez.
Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. Telling Live Stories, featuring Megan Stielstra, Shannon Cason, Andre Perez and Bobby Biedrzycki.
Wednesday, Oct 23 at 1 p.m. Creative Nonfiction: Hybrids and Cross Pollinations, featuring David Stuart MacLean, Kathleen Rooney and David Trinidad.
Wednesday, Oct 23 at 4 p.m. Video Storytelling, featuring Martha Irvine confirmed, Jackie Spinner, Ted Hardin and Eric Scholl.
Wednesday, Oct 23 at 7 p.m. Faculty and Student Readings
Thursday, Oct 24 at 4 p.m. Entrepreneurial paths to publication, featuring Sarah Dodson, Mairead Case, Paul Durica and Toure Muhammad.
All events are free and open to the public. They are held at Stage 2, 618 S. Michigan Ave, 2nd floor.
