Cosmos will replace the Renegades as Columbia College’s mascot. A group of Introduction to Journalism students spoke with Columbia students to get their opinions.
Mascot will give Columbia a brand
“It could represent diversity the different people here or the different majors.”

“I really think that Columbia, because we don’t do sports teams, really falls behind on pride. And I think that having a mascot and having something to happily brand yourself with is a part of it.”

“I think having a mascot is nice. It’s not necessary for us as art students, but I think it builds school spirit.”

Suggestions for how Cosmos could look
“I would make the mascot a cat–not like a cat that’s furry– but like a space-themed Pokémon.”
