Columbia College Chicago is getting a new college mascot named Cosmo. Its persona and look will be determined this semester, reports the Columbia Chronicle. In the meantime, a group of Columbia students have suggestions.

“It could represent diversity the different people here or the different majors.”

–Jordan Lauri, radio major, Chicago

“It would be a good change though; we’re just a name. So, something to represent us would be nice.”

–Hannah Smith, 19, Columbia student

“I really think that Columbia, because we don’t do sports teams, really falls behind on pride. And I think that having a mascot and having something to happily brand yourself with is a part of it.”

–Arwen Miller, entrepreneurship major

“I think having a mascot is nice. It’s not necessary for us as art students, but I think it builds school spirit.”

–Chaya Ross, film major, St. Louis

“I would make the mascot a cat–not like a cat that’s furry– but like a space-themed Pokémon.”

–Keo Mun, game art major

“Definitely not an animal. It could be, you know, maybe like an animal with a little painting thing in there.”

— Ashley Ramones, senior communication major

“Sounds kind of cosmic, something like stars. But then that wouldn’t really make sense for the school. It just doesn’t really fit.”

–Leslie Stewart, creative writing major
