Planned Parenthood of Illinois is offering free rapid HIV testing at its Austin, Englewood, and Roseland locations for a limited time.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, there are more than 22,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Chicago. Despite declines in HIV-related mortality, HIV continues to be in the top ten leading causes of death, ranking fourth among people between the ages of 34-55 who died in Chicago.
HIV has few or no symptoms for up to 10 years or more before symptoms of AIDS develop. The only way to know your status is to get tested.
HIV testing at Planned Parenthood of Illinois is confidential and results are given in the same day. To make an appointment call 800-230-PLAN or visit www.ppil.org.
