Last weekend in Chicago there were 82 shootings resulting in 16 deaths. Bob Garfield of On the Media interviewed Tribune reporter Peter Nickeas whose beat includes shootings in Chicago that happen during the night.
Nickeas speaks without pretension and describes why he does the reporting the way he does it and he talks about the effect it has on him to cover violence, day after day. His conclusions about the impact of living in a violent area on young people just sound true and unspeakably sad.
