If you ride to work from Uptown, near the intersection of Montrose Avenue and Chicago’s Lakefront Trail, you might see the group of community people, bicyclists and city officials, including Ald. James Cappleman (46th), Bike Uptown and the Chicago Department of Transportation at Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
New signage developed during a year of planning with Bike Uptown and the Chicago Department of Transportation is going to be unveiled, with the hope that it will reduce pedestrian,bicycle, and auto crashes and improve safety along the 46th Ward portion of the Lakefront Trail.
The signs represent a milesstone in Cappleman’s transportation master plan goal of reducing pedestrian, bicycle and auto crashes and improve safety along the 46th Ward portion of the Lakefront Trail.
The event will also emphasize the new Illinois state law that vehicles are required to stop for pedestrians that are in a crosswalk.
