On Dec. 16, legendary musician and native Chicagoan Kahil El’Zabar is launching OOHnow, a global culture network/e-commerce platform for the arts, at its premier one-day art and music event, “The Culture Revolution.”
The event is from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Venue One, 1034 West Randolph Street and will feature headliners, who are masters of multiple arts disciplines, such as Rashid Johnson, Sandro Miller, Nona Hendryx, El’Zabar, David Murray, Marc Ribot, Lucy Slivinski, Corey Wilkes, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Stephen Burns, DJ Terry Hunter and DJ Ron Trent.
The unique day- long Culture Revolution features The OOH Pop-Up Gallery and Market from noon to midnight, the OOH Talks from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the OOH Concert from 7 p.m. to midnight.
OOHnow strives to empower artists and other creatives through technology and multi-media expression.
“Our goal is to promote and support innovation, progressive enterprise, strategic collaboration, community building and brand development on a global scale,” El’Zabar said. “OOHnow.org uses technology to encourage live encounters with authentic emotional experiences across the Internet. It is also designed to protect members’ ownership rights for self-created content as well as their privacy rights.”
El’Zabar called The Culture Revolution on the 16th, “a historically significant cultural event with global impact and local commitment. This exciting multi-media showcase celebrates what is sure to become a major online platform for creatives around the world, interfacing the arts with innovation and technology.”
Admission to the day-time talks and exhibition is $20, the evening concert is $40 and an all day pass is $50. Students get half price all passes at the door with valid student ID.
