Why focus on violence against women and girls?

The Cook County Board president oversees the country’s largest public health care system as well as the Sheriff’s Office and the county jail and detention centers. These systems intersect daily with survivors and perpetrators of violence against women and girls.

About the Forum:
After each candidate has spoken, audience members will have an opportunity to ask their own questions on topics such as domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, prostitution and other forms of violence. The Candidate Forum is a nonpartisan event.

All candidates have been confirmed: Dorothy Brown (D), John Garrido (R), Roger Keats (R), Terrence O’Brien (D), Toni Preckwinkle (D), Todd Stroger (D) and Tom Tresser (Green).
